Alumni Allies Mentoring Program Seeking Alumni Mentors for the Class of 2027

Published on October 10, 2024

BYU Law Alumni Allies is a mentorship program that pairs students with alumni using a matching algorithm developed for Match.com. Jared Sine (‘07), former Chief Legal Officer for The Match Group, teamed with BYU Law School to develop this innovative approach to professional development. The program offers a stronger basis for developing long-term professional relationships by connecting people with similar interests, characteristics, and values.

Prior to the genesis of this program in 2019, mentors and students were paired exclusively on career interests. While this is an important factor in professional development, it does not guarantee mentorship compatibility. Alumni Allies uses Match.com algorithms to help make meaningful mentorships based on personality traits, and professional and personal interests. The unique system for pairing makes this mentor program different because it aims to create mutually rewarding relationships where both mentors and students learn and grow.

The program lasts through your 1L year with the expectation that mentors and students connect once a month during the first year of law school (October 2024  to May 2025). If you're a BYU Law alum and would like to sign up to be an Alumni Ally, please:

  1. Click here to sign up and share a little bit of information about yourself that we can use to make our matches and to share with your match.
  2. Take the short personality test to find out if you're a Builder, Explorer, Negotiator or Director.
  3. Look for a Match email from our office introducing you to your 1L law student in October 2024.
